Ishavsmuseet annual program 2016
Ishavsmuseet Aarvak would like to welcome you to a varied program at the museum in 2016. We aim to have a good and varied offer for both young and old throughout the year. Several events will be held.

Polar night: Per Kyrre Reymert with the lecture Ny-Ålesund – from mining town to research base.
Serving of clipfish with side dishes after the lecture.
Friday, February 19 at 8:00 PM
Polar night: Audun Tholfsen with a lecture about the "FRAM-2014/15" expedition. Audun Tholfsen, together with Yngve Kristoffersen, drove the ice aboard the hovercraft "Sabvabaa" from the North Pole to Greenland.

Polar night: Arild Ulstein tells and shows films from several fishing grounds and several ships on seal hunts. Among others "Jan Mayen", "Polarstar" and "Melshorn".

Polar night: Stone Ørnhøi with the lecture "With a hakapik and a film camera in my bag". Stein Ørnhøi was with "Polarstar" as an NRK journalist on a seal hunt in 1968.

Polar Evening: Polar Historian Kjell Kjaer from Vannareid in Troms with the lecture "Ishavsfarerne" about the development of seal hunting from 1859 to 1909. Kjær has written a book with the same title. In the book he has his own section called: "Brandal, – the village that became Norway's seal hunting capital".

Celebrating Brandal City's 100th anniversary. Unveiling of a statue of pioneer Peter S. Brandal. Special program coming soon. Serving in the cafe on Saturday and Sunday.

Polar night: John Giver with film and lecture from an expedition to southeast Greenland in 2013. Refreshments in the café after the lecture

"Of course it's seals"! Dinner with seal meat in many exciting variations. Film from the seal hunt.

Lutafisk evening. Friends of the Ishavsmuseet invite you to a dinner party with Lutafisk and all the goodies. More program to come.

Christmas Fair. The popular and annual arts and crafts fair is open Saturday 11am-17pm and Sunday 12pm-17pm. Dinner, coffee and cakes.
