New record-breaking Christmas fair at Ishavsmuseet

Saturday 19 November from 11am to 17pm and Sunday 20 November from 12pm to 17pm, this year's Christmas fair at the Ishavsmuseet in Brandal will be open. The Christmas fair at the Ishavsmuseet in Brandal has become a great tradition and is well established. This year's fair is fully booked with 55 exhibitors who are in place with sales stands among polar bears and musk oxen, over four floors at the Ishavsmuseet, and around the Arctic ship Aarvak.

Ishavsmuseet Aarvak and the Christmas Fair Working Committee are proud to be able to invite you to a new record-breaking Christmas fair at Ishavsmuseet. The fair has been very popular, and unfortunately there was not room for everyone who wanted to attend this year.

The Aarvakhuset is filled with exciting food, here you will find a lot of both meat and fish, juice, jam and honey. From the deck of the Arctic ship Aarvak you can, among other things, secure the best steaks of whale meat, good cured meat and good juice. Fjærli barrel factory shows off old cooperage skills and offers beautiful wooden barrels.

Food, arts and crafts

The fair at Ishavsmuseet is a food, art and craft fair where the emphasis is on the uniqueness of handicrafts. All exhibitors participate with natural and handmade products. The organizers aim for the fair to be as varied as possible, and this is clearly reflected in the many different exhibitors registered this year.

Not only can you do some unique and wonderful Christmas shopping with all these exciting exhibitors, but you can also look around the wonderful exhibitions that Ishavsmuseet offers.

The exhibitors at this year's Christmas fair come from many municipalities and regions, and in that case it can be extra exciting to visit the fair this year.

Here you can find lots of fine handicrafts such as knitwear, jewelry, cakes, bread rolls, woven books, woodwork, handmade knives, seal and sheepskin, smoked herring and salmon, cured meats, ceramics, glass art, watercolors, and many other items. The Monastery of Saints Olav and Prophet Elias offers holy candles and good soaps. If you want to see who all the exhibitors are, you can visit the Ishavsmuseet website.

Living museum

– It is very important for us to have a living museum, and it is a great pleasure to have a fair here. We are looking forward to the biggest Christmas fair ever in Brandal, says CEO of Ishavsmuseet Webjørn Landmark.

Visitors also have the opportunity to look around the museum – which offers free admission these days. Alternatively, the museum offers seal meat stew or meat cakes, snacks, and cakes and coffee in true Arctic style, when you need a break from shopping.

On the museum's first floor you will also find the Polar Shop at the museum, which offers one of the largest collections of polar literature in the country.

Pay a visit to Brandal these days and see what all these exhibitors have to offer. Here you can do a lot of your Christmas shopping, whether you are looking for Christmas gifts or want to treat yourself to something new.

See you in Brandal this weekend!
