Polarstar returns home on August 26th!
Anyone familiar with seal hunting has a connection to Norway's first steel-built sealer. This venerable old ship has been through countless adventures, on all oceans, and is for many the very symbol of the Arctic Ocean, hunting, expeditions and other polar experiences.
Polarstar has spent the last 3 years in Stettin, Poland, undergoing a complete restoration in close collaboration with the Norwegian Ministry of Antiquities. Now the work is nearing completion, and Polarstar is expected home the weekend of August 25-27. Enjoy the weekend! There will be a lot of exciting things to see and hear at the Ishavsmuseet that weekend!
A report on the restoration process can be read in every issue of Isflaket from issue 4-2013.
