End of the Aarvak anniversary: Pre-Christmas Sunday at the Ishavsmuseet.
Sunday, December 2nd is Christmas Eve at Ishavsmuseet. On this day, Ishavsmuseet marks the end of its anniversary "Aarvak 100 years".
The Ishavsmuseet has had a jubilee year with new visitor records and a very successful anniversary for the Arctic ship Aarvak. The celebration of the 100th anniversary has taken place throughout the year with various events, with the main celebration taking place at the end of August. On Sunday 2 December, this will be concluded with an Icelander and thermal suit meeting on the deck of the jubilee ship itself, namely Aarvak.
Ulstein Mannskor participated with sailor's songs and an excerpt from the Evert Taube performance they recently had at Sjøborg Kulturhus. If we know them correctly, they all put on appropriate Icelandic costumes and create a good atmosphere in the mighty Aarvak-huset.
Also participating in the program are Barbro Østrem and Harald Knutsen.
We advise the audience to look out for the Icelander and dress warmly. We are going to the Arctic Ocean, and it is cold on board the Aarvak!
The Ishavsmuseet will be open from 2:00 PM with a Christmas gift room and a room for brandy, coffee and cakes. There will be an opportunity to secure the brand new book "Soga om Aarvak" which tells the story of the jubilarian.
At 4:00 p.m., Brandal Vel will be lighting the Christmas tree in the center of Brandal, to the tunes of the Hareid school band. After the lighting, the train will take you to the Aarvak house, where warm Christmas mulled wine will be waiting. The event at Aarvak starts at 5:00 p.m.
The Polar shop and cafe at the Ishavsmuseet will also be open after the event.
