Concert with the Sommer trio from the deck of Aarvak.
Monday 23 September at 19.00
Sommer Trio consists of fiddle player Ingeborg Ulberg Sommer from Røros
in Trøndelag, drummer, accordionist and accordionist Marius Berglund from
Skodje in Møre og Romsdal and accordionist and accordion player Kristina Farstad
Bjørdal from Tennfjord in Møre og Romsdal.
These three have played together for several years and for this occasion they have put together a repertoire that will show similarities, differences and traditional lines between the village dance and round dance tradition in Trøndelag (with a focus on the Røros area) and Møre og Romsdal. Both in Trøndelag and in Møre og Romsdal one finds a very rich folk music tradition, and there is a lot of written material. On a national level, the tradition from Møre og Romsdal has not come to light very well, and Sommer Trio wants to do something about this. Sommer Trio will play songs that are already known, but will focus most on new material that has not been played much before. In addition, they will play traditional material from Røros that builds on the journey the music has made through the country. For example, there are many polsar in Trøndelag that have the same musical language as Springarar in Møre og Romsdal, and it is quite clear that it has its origins in the same melody. Among others, Fel-Jakup from Lom wandered a lot in both Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal.
Sommer Trio will take the audience on a verbal and musical journey that supports these
The trio will also present completely new local material from Møre and
Romsdal from the Stavsetsamlinga, and the Jøssvollsamlinga, which is a collection of songs that are very little known.
Røros has a very well-illustrated, documented and widely played folk music tradition, especially when it comes to the dance type pols. Nevertheless, one can find a lot of other material from Røros that is worth preserving. There are a lot of good reindeer and waltzes from Røros and much of the repertoire that the Sommer Trio wants to use.
