Polar evening with Mats Forsberg May 25th
Wednesday, May 25 at 7:00 PM, it's time for a polar evening, lecture and film, with Mats Forsberg. Mats was involved in the start-up of Svalbard Polartravel in 1990. Mats was an expedition leader and guide aboard the M/S Polarstar for several years. At the Ishavsmuseet he will show pictures and tell more about this time. He will also tell about expeditions that he is currently involved in both to Svalbard and Greenland.
Mats is a naturalist, wildlife photographer and explorer from Sweden. He began his career on the world famous Lindblad Explorer in 1982. Since then he has worked all over the world, on all seven seas and in the polar regions. This includes a number of seasons in the archipelago outside Svalbard, as well as many trips to Greenland, the Canadian and Russian Arctics and Antarctica.
Mats now lives with his family in Northern Norway. Apart from working as a photographer since 1989, he has also worked for the BBC, HTV and other international film and television companies. Over the years, Mats has been involved in several successful and exciting projects both on the Norwegian mainland and in Svalbard. He dedicates his life to spreading knowledge about the Arctic and its natural beauty, and to raising people's awareness of the environment.
