Record-breaking Christmas fair at the Ishavsmuseet

Ishavsmuseet Aarvak and the working committee for the Christmas fair are proud to be able to invite you to a new Christmas fair at Ishavsmuseet. It is also a never-ending anniversary, as this year's fair is being held for the fifth time. The fair at Ishavsmuseet offers many exciting exhibitors on all floors of the museum. In recent years, the Christmas fair at Ishavsmuseet has become more and more popular, and the large number of exhibitors means that this year the Aarvakhuset has also been put into use. Here you will find lots of good food, both meat and fish, juices, jams and honey. From the deck of the Arctic ship Aarvak you can, among other things, secure the most delicious steaks of whale meat.

Food, arts and crafts

The fair at Ishavsmuseet is a food, art and craft fair where the emphasis is on the uniqueness of handicrafts. All exhibitors participate with natural and handmade products. The organizers aim for the fair to be as varied as possible, and this is clearly reflected in the many different exhibitors registered this year.

Not only can you do some unique and great Christmas shopping with all these exciting exhibitors, but you can also look around the great exhibitions that the Ishavsmuseet offers. On the museum's fourth floor you can visit the stand of the Ishavsmuseet Friends' Association for a chat in the corner of the sofa. Here, an Arctic film or two will be shown on the screens continuously, and you will also find Arctic author Johannes Alme who will be there to sign his book "The Experience of the Arctic People". On the floor below you will find May Britt Haukås who also sells and signs books.

Should you need a break from shopping, the museum will offer bacalao, meatballs, and other snacks, in addition to coffee and cakes.

On the first floor of the museum you will also find the Polar Shop at the museum, which offers one of the largest collections of polar literature in the country.

The exhibitors at this year's Christmas fair come from many municipalities and regions, and in that case it can be extra exciting to visit the fair this year.

Here you can secure a lot of fine handicrafts such as knitwear, jewelry, cakes, pastries, quilting, books, woodwork, handmade knives, sheep and deer skins, rakfisk, ceramics, glass art, watercolors and many other items.

You can get whale meat from Myklebust hvalprodukter, honey from Birøktarlaget, smoked fish and meat from Sunnmøre Røykeri, and meat for Christmas from Hole kjøtt. Fruit, juice, jams and clipfish can also be found in Aarvakhuset.
