Before Salomon August Andrée set out on his daring balloon journey to the North Pole in 1897, he had completed nine trips with the balloon Svea, totaling 40 hours of flight time. This book contains his accounts of these trips.
In addition, his plan for a polar expedition by hot air balloon, as presented to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on February 13, 1895, is included.
