This book contains a selection of articles from the first 10 years of the "Isflaket". The articles are not primarily about the ships, but just as much about the people who were with them on seal hunting, expeditions and wintering.
Here you can read that women were also involved to a certain extent in this male-dominated and dangerous environment. And the women at home – the Arctic women – are not forgotten at all, those who took care of the house and home while their husbands were on the Arctic Ocean.
The book spans a period of 100 years and covers the polar regions of both hemispheres. It is richly illustrated with nearly 200 photographs taken by those who participated.
