White Horizons is a book about the struggle to reach both poles from the air and annex as much of the surrounding land as possible. In the Arctic, there was no land to take possession of as they thought, but in Antarctica there was much to fight for. The main character is the American millionaire's son and Norwegian friend Lincoln Ellsworth. He financed Roald Amundsen's air expeditions to the North Pole before he himself equipped his own expeditions to Antarctica with Norwegian ships and crews. In this book, the rich American is portrayed as his crew experienced him, which in some cases deviates greatly from what he himself has written about his achievements and how they were achieved.
