Left to his own devices in the icy wilderness, Børge Ousland stands on Cape Arktichesky in Siberia with 980 kilometers ahead of him to the North Pole. What he is about to embark on has never been attempted before. Beneath him lies an unpredictable ice surface, and beneath the ice dark water over 4000 meters deep. Above the ice – a man alone with skis on his feet and a 125-kilogram sled. Børge Ousland wants to be the first to reach the Pole without resupply; he has accomplished what others thought was impossible. Through screw ice and snow and in extreme cold, he fights his way to the North Pole. On April 22, 1994, he stands on top of the globe. The daring expedition is successfully completed.
