North-east Greenland 1908-60
This is the English version of the classic Northeast Greenland 1908-60: The Trapper period. This updated and greatly expanded translation of the Danish edition, which was published in 1994, has been created to meet several needs, including demand from a growing English-speaking crowd of scientists, adventurers and tourists visiting Northeast Greenland.
But it is much more than a translation. For the first time, extensive new material, recorded by NANOK expeditions in the years 2003-2007, is also being published. Thus, the book contains a completely revised catalog of the more than 350 historic cabins and stations, with e.g. GPS positions as well as new and old photos. The book thereby gives a clear picture of how the places look today and how they have changed over the years. A number of newly discovered historical photos are also being published for the first time. In total, the book contains approx. 1.000 photos of places and people.
The book is based on around 500 different sources from both published works and unpublished diaries as well as the author's interviews and correspondence with hundreds of source persons over the past thirty years.
