-the Arctic vessel M/S "Polstjerna"
Shortly after the Second World War, the experienced Arctic sea captain Halfdan Jakobsen from Balsnes in Troms was to purchase a new fishing vessel. He wanted to “try something new,” as he later put it. Both expensive lessons learned and his own ideas for improvements were to form the basis for the construction.
The book is based on Jakobsen's background. We follow him to the boatbuilding yard at Risør and later aboard the vessel – M/S "Polstjerna". The author has used interviews, diaries, archives, old photographs and – not least – the vessel itself as sources to shed light on the construction and its many uses.
