UNDERWINNING SETUP
Ishavsmuseet Aarvak is a fantastic arena for wonder and learning. The museum can be used for many topics within many subjects. It can emphasize what each individual teacher believes is important within the different subjects. The teacher can also use the staff at the museum. They are knowledgeable and have extensive experience in most subjects.
This is intended as a document with suggestions for teaching. All groups are of course free to create their own plans, or, if they wish, use this or parts of this document. It is also possible to create teaching plans before or after a visit to the Ishavsmuseet, e.g. building model boats, delving into animal species, local history, or similar.
The program here is designed in an attempt to cover some of the competency goals in the curricula, so that the museum can provide the best possible offer. Other subjects can also be included, such as Norwegian, English, mathematics and arts and crafts. Here, the emphasis is on nature and the environment and social studies, with the exception of one activity in English, but there are many opportunities to involve other subjects.
For both programs, there are some coloring sheets and simple tasks that can be used in different ways, and in addition, there is a polar quiz (own document) that can be adapted to the different age groups. Some of the activities in the 1st-4th grade program can be suitable for 5th-7th grade, such as the map task, and vice versa.
There are always things happening at Ishavsmuseet Aarvak, so we will also adapt the teaching format as the exhibitions at the museum expand or change.
