| Additional information | In 1882, the Frenchman Carles Robot and the Englishman AH Cocks chartered the ship for a scientific expedition to Spitsbergen. In 1883, it was on the north coast of Edgøya. Here they shot a number of marked and castrated reindeer, which probably descended from the animals that escaped from Nordenskiold 10 years earlier. In 1885, the "Cecilie Malene" rescued the crew of the "Enigheten" off Kristiansund, and in 1889, they rescued the Kucenthal and Walter expedition. The expedition had chartered Nils Johnsen's "Bertine". The shipwreck occurred on Aust-Spitsbergen near the Russeøyane. In 1898, the "Cecilie Malene" sailed from Tromsø to Spitsbergen and Novaya Zemlya in late April, and returned to Tromsø on September 26 with a catch consisting of: 38 walruses, 442 seals, 6 polar bears and 101 barrels of blubber. In 1900, the "Cecilie Malene" sets out on April 23rd to the West Ice Cap. When they return on August 29th, they are heading from North-East Greenland. The catch consists of 44 dead and 4 live musk oxen, 3 live polar bears, 7 walruses and 65 barrels of blubber. The musk oxen are sold to the London Zoo for 18.000,- Kr. A very large sum at the time!
