| Additional information | In 1926, they suffered mechanical damage while fishing in the ice, and were towed back to Hammerfest by the "Veiding". They had 1600 seals on board. The following year, in 1927, they had a catch of 2.700 seals after being out for about 4 months. The ship also made another trip to the Kara Sea, and there had a catch of 91 whales, 100 seals, 24 dead and 6 live polar bears, and 220 barrels of blubber. In 1928, the "Sælen" had two trips to the White Sea. It was a difficult ice year, and 19 ships sank there that year. On the second trip, the "Sælen" delivered 219 whales, 60 seals, 5 polar bears and 450 barrels of blubber. 1929: 65 ships participated in the hunt in the White Sea. "Sælen" also made two trips this year: Result of the first trip 1.400 seals and 450 barrels of blubber. On September 13, "Sælen" came in from the White Sea with 144 walruses, 120 seals, 10 polar bears and 300 barrels of blubber. Wrecked at Sydkapplandet in Storfjorden near Svalbard in 1940. The crew was picked up by the Arctic ship "Isbjørn" after 13 days.
